A new copyright and trademark bill, has been proposed, calling for a government agency to enforce private rights in copyrights and trademarks:
H.R.4279
"Prioritizing Resources and Organization for Intellectual Property Act of 2007"*
Possible HTML &/or XML links to the bill (not sure if they will continue to work):

[Ed. note: I haven't had a chance to review the statute, but at first glance it appears to be completely INSANE, as if it was drawn up by Matthew Oppenheim and Mitch Bainwol!!!]

Just looked up sponsorship - co-sponsors the usual crowd, but may have legs as Sponsor is Conyers - indicates possible leadership backing

Also, this link (and previous) may also expire as queries - does anybody know how to get a permanent link to a Thomas page?
I've put up a link that will work, to the pdf version.
While I'd like to have an html version with links that work, I don't want to put up expiring links.
By the way, when your comment includes a link, please link it so it won't spread all across the spread. In one of the 2 comment views the longer links are truncated.
Thanks.
By the way this scary development emphasizes the importance of the Expert Witness Defense Fund. These are scary times, and we need the truth to come out.

Yep, I supported - we need to give the best help we can.
And from now on I'll use tinyurl links.
Thanks, "fatbear".
Best regards,

I think that this reflects a bigger problem in the US these days and that's really abhorrent civil forfeiture laws that basically shift the burden from the government to the defendant (or rather victim) to get their property back.
I think a campaign against this has a better chance of succeeding if it encompasses getting rid of many of the may egregious other instances where personal property can be seized in the absence of a criminal conviction.
@fatbear
clickable links are easy to write in html. It's just a few extra characters
<a href="ADDRESS HERE">TEXT OF LINK HERE</a>
e.g.
<a href="http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:HR04279:@@@P">sponsors</a>
which gives
sponsors
that way one can see where the link leads to in case someone is a bit insecure in risking going to unknown maybe dangerous pages.
Even someone who's not that bright can do it.
