New Copyright Bill Proposed in House of Representatives

A new copyright and trademark bill, has been proposed, calling for a government agency to enforce private rights in copyrights and trademarks:

[Ed. note: I haven't had a chance to review the statute, but at first glance it appears to be completely INSANE, as if it was drawn up by Matthew Oppenheim and Mitch Bainwol!!!]

Igor said...: I think that this reflects a bigger problem in the US these days and that's really abhorrent civil forfeiture laws that basically shift the burden from the government to the defendant (or rather victim) to get their property back.

I think a campaign against this has a better chance of succeeding if it encompasses getting rid of many of the may egregious other instances where personal property can be seized in the absence of a criminal conviction.; December 10, 2007 at 2:59:00 PM EST
